Chiropractic care is used to treat many symptoms of musculoskeletal system disorder. Simply put, it helps with aches caused by bone and muscle misalignment. You’ve had an aching neck that you can’t seem to stretch enough and it bothers you all day at work, right? Our Calgary chiropractor can help you find the relief you need and be feeling great for everything you need to do in life!
At Northern Hills Chiropractic we offer several wellness services including chiropractic care, acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and exercise therapy. Chiropractic fits nicely with these other treatment modalities in that it can be used before or after other treatments. Sometimes, an adjustment will be helpful in allowing massage to work more fully while in other cases, a massage is needed first to decrease inflammation before an adjustment.
This is the benefit you get as a client of our Calgary chiropractor – the best of chiropractic with other services to support its benefits. Before you get an adjustment, we’ll evaluate your medical history, specifically for anything related to spinal and joint health.
What is a chiropractic treatment like?
You may have heard of “chiropractic manipulation” or a “chiropractic adjustment.” These terms are interchangeable and they both refer to specific maneuvers used by your body placement and pressure applied from the chiropractor in order to unlock joints from stuck places and return your skeleton structure to its natural state.
Adjustments can be done with both high-velocity and low-velocity, which refers to the speed or intensity of the maneuver. Be sure to tell your Calgary chiropractor if you are interested in one approach over the other
Before a manipulation, the chiropractor will do a series of muscle tests that will determine where the adjustment needs to take place. You might be surprised that while you have pain or discomfort in one area, the adjustment actually needs to take place near an opposing muscle!
It’s an exciting time to be both giving and receiving chiropractic care as we have improved tests, technologies, and an ability to provide more focused, gentle approaches to get at these specific points. We use evidence-based testing and we are continually improving our education and skill set to provide you with the most up-to-date and effective approaches possible.
What does a Calgary Chiropractor treat?
Generally speaking, chiropractic aims to readjust spinal alignment to promote optimal posturing and musculoskeletal functioning. But specifically, chiropractic care treats the following:

Hip and knee injuries
